Why I built Visamo

When my American wife and I started the gradual process, I thought the interviews would be the hard part. They weren't. The paperwork was.

Some documents we didn't even know how to get. A certificate that was valid in March had expired by our appointment in July. We waited months for a slot, only to hear “come back with the missing page,” and then waited months more for the next round. More than once, our file was sent back over something we didn't know was mandatory.

Our “system” was a folder on our computer, full of revisions. Between the rounds and the rejections, the whole process took us almost two years. I'm Israeli, I read every form in my own language, and I still felt lost. For my wife, who doesn't speak Hebrew, it was even harder.

So I built what we needed: one calm place for every document, every date and every step. Visamo can't decide anyone's case. But it makes the process smoother, with much less risk of missing something along the way. Bureaucracy shouldn't be the hardest part of building a life with the person you love.
